The HOPE Method
A step-by-step, trauma-informed path back to the part of your body that holds the most shame, gently, safely, and entirely on your terms.
For many survivors, the deepest disconnection lives in the relationship with their own genitals, a place loaded with shame, numbness, or fear that few resources will walk you through. This is the work RECLAIMED was built to do, with a guided method and people beside you.
The wound almost no one will name
There is one wound so silencing that many survivors have never spoken it aloud to anyone: that their body responded during the assault. The shame this leaves behind is crushing, it whispers, "my body reacted, so I must have wanted it, so it wasn't really assault." Some survivors shut down all feeling afterward, for years, to make sure they can never be confused that way again.
So let this be said clearly, because it is the truth: arousal is a reflex, not consent. A physical response is automatic, like flinching, or your mouth watering at the smell of food. It is not desire. It is not agreement. Your body did not betray you, and it did not give permission you never gave. This is one of the first things RECLAIMED gently helps you understand, and, in time, helps you feel.
What it is, and what it is not
- It is not sexual. Nothing here is about arousal or performance. It is about safety, ownership, and self-compassion.
- It is entirely opt-out. Every practice can be paused, repeated, or skipped. There is no "behind."
- It is paced by you. You work only within your window of tolerance, present, never overwhelmed.
- It comes later, not first. You reach it only after building safety and grounding in the earlier modules.
What HOPE stands for
The HOPE Method moves through four gentle phases, each one a stage on the way back to your body. Together they spell the thing this work is quietly here to return to you: hope.
Honour, naming without shame
Meet your body and its history with honesty and zero judgement. Anatomy as neutral fact, with full permission to feel whatever arises.
Orient, finding safety first
Learn your window of tolerance and your grounding anchor, so you are always safe before you go any further.
Presence, coming back into contact, gently
Reclaiming the gaze, then safe, self-loving touch, beginning far from the body and moving inward only by your consent, only ever as far as feels right.
Embody, from tolerance to tenderness
Meeting whatever arises, including "no," honoured as information, never failure, and arriving, in time, at ownership and self-compassion.
Held safely, every step
This is the most sensitive work in the course, so it carries the most care. Content warnings, opt-outs, grounding tools, and a crisis-referral pathway are all built in, and a clinician hand-off note helps you bring your therapist alongside you. RECLAIMED is a complement to professional care, never a replacement for it.
This is the work no one else will help you with.
It's also the reason RECLAIMED exists. When you're ready, we'll walk it together.
